God made us to be with him (1Cor 6:17). He created us and put His Life within us (Gen 2:7) We are designed by Him and for Him (Ps 139); to live in complete union and harmony, protected and inspired by the world which he has provided (Gen 2:8-). Our spirit is the inner core of our being (Zec 12:1) and contains our functions of communion (Lk 1:41), intuition (1 Cor 2:11) and conscience (Ps 51:10). Our soul surrounds this (Heb 4:12) and includes our mind (Isaiah 55:9), will (Gen 6:5, James 4:7) and emotions (Lk 1 46-47)...all contained (but not neccessarily constrained) by our outer core - our physical body (John 2:21) - which in turn nurtures the soul and spirit through feeding, exercise, fresh air, senses...(John 21 1-14)
God intended life to be precious and sustained by himself (Ps 54:4) - until a time he chooses (Ps 139:16). He commands us not to murder, steal or destroy (John 10:10) but to protect the young and vulnerable, to stand up for the rights of the oppressed and to provide for those who need shelter (Isaiah 58).
The first weeks of life:
Day 1: Conception - a new life has begun
Day 6-12: The baby burrows into the lining of the womb
3 Weeks: The heart begins to beat..........9 months: Birth - just another stage in an already well-advanced process.*
In protecting our own freedom, we are called to take care of the freedom of others (Gal 5:13). God is kind and just and we must repent of any wrongdoing or intention and pray and walk in His forgiving grace. Isaiah 30:18
Take time as spring flourishes and easter approaches to think:
-
do I take the time to be with God?
-
does God have access to me?
-
do I encourage & value life in others?
-
do I encourage & value life in me?
Guide me, O thou great redeemer,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but though art mighty,
Hold me with thou powerful hand;
Bread of Heaven, bread of heaven
Feed me now and evermore;
Feed me now and evermore.
Open now the crystal fountain
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through:
Strong deliverer, strong deliverer;
Be thou still my strength and shield;
Be thou still my strength and shield.
When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside.
Death of death, and Hell's destruction
Land me safe on Canaan's side:
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to thee,
I will ever give to thee.
