"Moment to moment, what we all experience are the individual pictures that our brain creates. Sunlight on a wall, a gate clanging, a man's voice - all snapshots without connection. If your childhood has been relatively ordinary, where events recurred and were explained to you by adults, you discovered how to turn fragments like these into a story. Now you do this all the time. However, amongst those children who have experienced the extremes of suffering and cruelty - the numbers of these children now run into many millions - are children who are themselves no more than the fragments of their experiences. What should have been their self, a single whole, is a vaguely shifting collection of fragments. Their life has been one of extreme events, where little has been replicated and nothing explained. Thus they have been unable to fit these fragments into some kind of life story that they can tell to themselves and others. Because they have no story to tell, they are deprived of the reactions of other people to their story, whereas we who do have a life story to tell constantly modify our idea of ourselves so that the meaning of ourself is in constant change.."
One view / explanation of modern [post-truth !]) humanity .. does this fit what you see / who you are ?
Thank God our life can be found and hidden in Him (Jude, Colossians 3 2-3, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Titus 3:7)
