"In repentance and rest is your salvation; in quietness and trust is your strength" Isaiah 30:15
God calls us to rest in Him - in the finished work of Christ on the cross (John 4:34, John 19:30) Jesus never rushed (Matthew 8:23-27), or complained of insufficient time, & God Himself ordained a day of rest after completing six days of creation.. (Genesis 2:2-3)
"Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10
Ruth Fazal writes... 'learning to live in that place of rest, no matter what is going on around us... It is not a 'passive' rest. We are told to 'strive to enter into that rest'. How can striving and rest co-exist? well...maybe they don't exactly co-exist, but one precedes the other. When I look at the preparation that is involved for a Jewish person who strictly keeps the Shabbat, it is amazing to see just how much work goes into 'preparing' to enter into Shabbat. You can definitely see that 'shalom' is not something that we enter into by accident! Yes, it is a gift from the Lord, but it is also a choice to enter into it, and to live in that place. Each week, I feel as though I learn a little more about the precious gift that Shabbat is to us. It is the result of God 'completing' his work. All of His work prepares a place for us to enter into. God did not begin creation with Shabbat...it came at the end of all his work.... " on the seventh day He rested."'
God provides peace in Christ (Ephesians 2:14) - a peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7) No-matter what day it is Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22) - the result of God's work in us (Philippians 1:6)
Consider your restfulness, or otherwise
