"For this purpose Christ was revealed: to destroy all the works of the evil one"
   Home      2016      Expectations
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and neither are my ways your ways", declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55 8-9

God's ways are not the same as ours - and His mind is often different too (1 Corinthians 2:16) There is freedom where God is  (2 Corinthians 3:17) the freedom of safety within God's boundaries - not to be misused or taken lightly (Galatians 5:13)
Our journey with Christ can go through many phases / changes both outwards and within, but Christ is our anchor (Hebrews 6:19) and plumb line (Amos 7:8) a refuge in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9)
We can be disappointed with God if our expectations are not met (Hebrews 11) Thank God for the living hope (1 Peter 1:3) we have through the Holy Spirit - the Counsellor and comforter - presence of God beside and within (John 14:16)

Have your expectations been met ? What are you hoping for ? Do your expectations meet with God's plans for you ? (Jeremiah 29:11)
Where is God leading you ? To stay / move ?

Whatever, we must follow Christ in all we become and do ..

"Jesus, draw me ever nearer,
As I labour through the storm,
You have called me to this passage,
And I'll follow, though I'm worn.

May this journey bring a blessing
May I rise on wings of faith,
And at the end of my heart's testing,
With your likeness let me wake.

Jesus guide me through the tempest;
Keep my Spirit staid and sure
When the midnight meets the morning,
Let me love you even more.

Let the treasures of the trial
Form within me as I go -
And at the end of this long passage,
Let me leave them at your throne."
