Jesus was revealed for the Divine purpose of destroying the works of the evil one and releasing those who suffer from the harm of his schemes:
"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me to preach Good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour
and the day of vengeance of our God"

we are called to follow Jesus and do the works He commands us to:
"And this is His command: to believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us."
